For those that pay attention to fashion’s direction season to season, exposed zippers are a massive seasonal trend. How fitting then to come across a designer who has manipulated, deconstructed and intricately patterned zippers into beautiful pieces of adornment, like wearing a mini-sculpture on your body. Kate Cusack is first and foremost a costume designer, having worked in wardrobe for Broadway shows and Disney, so please don’t get the impression that these jewellery pieces were designed to be a part of the ‘it’ mentality. These zipper pieces have been a part of Kate’s design vocabulary for years. What is of interest to the Kate as a concept is wearable art, where the wearer becomes the living gallery that it exists on.
