The team at Nouveau emailed us through the digital version of Risto Bimbiloski’s Winter collection this morning which we had to put online post-haste. Risto is a designer very new to the ready-to-wear market but he’s certainly earned his fashion credentials, working for Vuitton as head knitwear designer for the menswear collections.
The ideas for winter were formed from, initially, birds of prey but with other influences, like nocturnal creatures and the 80s club scene, it mutated into something else. The result is a range where the silhouettes are sharp, delicately balancing on the precipice of danger and beauty. Our notions of winter, relative to fashion, are quite heavy both in terms of colour and shapes but his use of vibrant colours and unique prints give it another the garments another dimension, adding a sense of lightness that softens.
