I have to say I am quite surprised by the new Rittenhouse summer capsule collection. Rittenhouse is a label that has become synonymous for creating the kind of fashion that focuses on quiet detailing. A mix between high-end and casual, the aesthetic has always had an art focus and a tendency towards traditional techniques. But Rittenhouse are taking their experimentation to a new level with this collection, working with Swiss husband-and-wife artists Michael Husmann and Pasquale Mira Tschaeni. They’ve been quoted as a ‘dream couple’ in the local scene, moving between mediums of illustration, painting and installtion, where their work leads to a world of ‘magic and love’, in the words of Micah Hamdorf.
The result of this collaboration is an intense explosion of colour, texture and line, giving Rittenhouse a softer and dreamier edge. And it’s beyond beautiful. I shudder to think of how one would feel wearing a piece from the capsule range. One look and it’s easy to feel as though you’re transported into the dream-like world Rittenhouse have created.
