We posted something earlier in the year about the designs of Maria Francesca Pepe. We were really taken with her experimental approach in blurring the lines between fashion and jewellery. Maria has followed up her Art Brut collection with Les C, a nod to the Parisenne prostitutes of the 19th century. Art deco references are juxtaposed against sharp lines in a silhouette that reinforces the masculine shape first seen in Art Brut, but in adopting avant garde proportions the decorative aspects explore a more feminine aesthetic. It’s quite a dramatic and directional collection and an interesting precursor to her Bathing Beauties show at London Fashion Week.
