Not long after we put a post online for Coco Pit’s debut series of digital print silk scarves, local and luxury savvy retailer Jean Brown picked up the bulk of the range, the first boutique in Australia to do so. This was quickly followed by a collaboration with mass online retailer ASOS as part of the designer HUB series, as well as a pretty impressive list of international stockists. The fashion world cottoned on quite quickly to her work and thankfully a new collection is on its way.
We’ve said before that Coco’s illustrations takes on a very surrealist attitude to design, and this new series Wonderland references one of the most barmy books in childrens literature. Inspired by the works of John Tenneil, illustrative co-collaborator of Lewis Carroll’s most famous book, Wonderland is a wonderful mix of satire and allusion, where symbolism weaves deep and mysterious meanings. The intensity of these designs are amazing. How apt too, the timing of this collection, given that Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland is due to hit cinemas later this year. Curiouser and curiouser!
