We love to talk about Little Tailleur. In summer 2008 we waxed lyrical about a “beautifully streamlined collection that is modern and feminine with a strong European sensibility”. Winter continued with the tailored, demi-couture techniques and clean simple lines and now Georgette Tahche, creative force behind the label, presents summer 2010. I was disappointed to find Little Tailleur a no-show at this year’s Fashion Week, even it’s offsite schedule, so I have been waiting, waiting, waiting since May for a sign of summer. And here it is!
By Georgette’s own admission Little Tailleur is a niche product. Each season is a small collection and at its core is an emphasis on fabrics. Having been following the label for some time I find this season to be more relaxed. It still retains that effortless chic, but it’s a more rounded and balanced collection. Silk satins are mixed with linens, lace and lurex and I found myself nodding in agreement to every look. I don’t like to talk about ‘transitional clothing’ but it really is the kind of collection that works for day and night. Her signature neutral colour palette is given a summer boost with the most vivid of jewel tones, like the emerald green of the Violette dress (last look). And as much as I don’t like to choose favourites, I am IN LOVE with the Clotilde dress (second image). No explanation needed.
