Blonde Venus

This is the new season from Brass. Blonde Venus is inspired by 30s film star Marlene Dietrich, jungle themes and showgirls, the designs are defined by angular, geometric shapes and the palette is dominated by black. When I took in that first look shown here I instinctively felt it was something straight out of New York. The shapes and on-trend cropping lend it a familiar, minimalist aesthetic that would sit well on the racks of a store like Oak. So I was quite surprised to find that Zoe Watt, designer the label, hails from Scotland (now based in London). Having studied in Perthshire and followed up with a Masters from Central St. Martin’s, the intermittant years between study and birthing a label were spent working with Peter Jensen and Boudicca. It’s quite a tight collection, the kind that will appeal to the fashion-forward thinkers.  The season has been edited into our favourite looks. Naturally we lean towards all that is black.
