I Almost Forgot It’s Christmas

I’ll blame it on the fact that I’ve been gallivanting across New Zealand’s countryside for forgetting that Christmas is almost upon us. It’s easy to forget to be naughty or nice when you’re surrounded by breathtaking scenery (and no boutiques). However, upon our return to Brisbane I received the most wonderful gift in the mail. Now I’ll admit that communicating online has an abundance of advantages - cost, immediacy being a couple of examples - but there’s something quite intimate and tender about receiving a letter in the mail (that isn’t a bill). The girls at TMOD have put a great amount of thought and creativity into their Christmas card cheer and have done the most amazing scratchie style Advent calendar. I don’t think I’ve used one of these since I was a little girl! The calendar takes pride on our refrigerator and it’s quite exciting waking up each morning and revealing the day’s new ‘gift’ This great idea is not just confined to the silly season though. TMOD have put together a range of ‘thank you’, ‘happy birthday’ and ‘thinking of you’ cards, featuring old world mechanical illustrations of hot air balloons, cuckoo clocks and castles. Available from a few select local boutiques and art and book stores in most capital cities.
