Bernhard & Jutta
A few of us at Canvas spent the weekend in Brussells, following a series of music performances at Stuk. Our intent was to see Panda Bear, some time experimental solo artist and one-third of avant garde band Animal Collective, but we were not averse to a bit of touristy-type shopping. For the most part, shopping in Brussells on a Sunday is a tad boring unless you have an insatiable appetite for chocolate, beer and waffles. Fortunately we found an amazing book store, Librarie Saint Hubert in the Galleries de Roi.

Unseen Utopias
In preparation for winter's upcoming fashion weeks (the first of which is kicking off for us in Copenhagen) we've been remembering labels that have excited us over the last six months and doing a lot of research on labels we're eager to see in an attempt to work out our schedules. There's only so much time and always too many appointments. ffixxed is a label that forms part of the latter - a new discovery for us while we were click, click, clicking away on the keyboard.

How Could I Forget You?
Not long after we put a post online for Coco Pit's debut series of digital print silk scarves, local and luxury savvy retailer Jean Brown picked up the bulk of the range, the first boutique in Australia to do so. This was quickly followed by a collaboration with mass online retailer ASOS as part of the designer HUB series, as well as a pretty impressive list of international stockists. The fashion world cottoned on quite quickly to her work and thankfully a new collection is on its way.

Sykes London
I was shopping online the other day when I came across a few pieces from moderate minimalist Sykes, eponymous label from Central St. Martin's graduate Joanna Sykes. Although it's been established for a few seasons it's not yet a label you can find outside of London. And while there's been a fair amount of editorial for Sykes in the likes of Vogue and Elle (UK of course) it will be something quite fresh for our readers.

Twenty Ten
We missed our merry well wishes to you all. No, it’s not a case of bah! humbug, just a matter of forgetting and losing days. 2009 wrapped up in a whirlwind. So instead we wish you all a happy new year with the news that Canvas is on the move! Not the entire magazine, only part of the editorial team. We’ll still have our ear to the (Australian) ground but you may notice a distinct (Danish) flavour to our content over the coming year. The move was an easy decision to make thanks to the mag’s foundation in digital media - while I may be physically uprooted there is the distinct advantage of being able to work in the same role with the same group of writers, stylists and photographers, albeit on the other side of the world.
