Can Karen Get Any Cooler?
I have just come back from a lovely little sojourn in New Zealand. The bulk of our time was spent saturated in beautiful scenery on the south island but I was desperate to head to the north and check out The Department Store for a bit of shopping.

Lunar Mare
Estelle Deve's world is one in which opposites happily coexist. Science fiction fantasy meets art deco with a subtle tribal influence to bring an inspired range of translucent intimates.

My New Favourite Local Label
I have been waiting, waiting, waiting to write this post. And considering I'm not the most patient person this obviously is something I am very excited to talk about.

The Raven
Belinda Luscombe said something interesting in her What Was That Decade About article for Bazaar's January issue. Frankly, I found the bulk of the mag boring but Belinda's piece, a summation of the last ten years of style, convinced me of something that I had already considered about the future of fashion. One of her arguments was that shopping will move away from stores awash with mass consumption with buyers instead choosing to seek out local rather than global design.

Apologies, Dear Canvas Readers
I’m sure you will have noticed the lack of daily posts in the last week. It’s not common practice here at Canvas, and you all have my sincerest apologies, but in all fairness I think I have a fairly valid excuse: I was getting married. I had the best of intentions for fashion write-ups pre-wedding but it turned out more time-consuming (and stressful) than I imagined, even though ours was an attempt to make it as stress-free as possible. Plus, I also made a deal with my husband that our honeymoon would be a no-computer affair. No excuses now I’m back on home ground. Still in holiday mode though, but ready for some write-ups.
