Le Jardin Des Tuileries

Le Jardin Des Tuileries

Little Tailleur doesn't define any trends, rather it is based on a discipline centred around the female identity.

St. Jerome’s Laneway

St. Jerome’s Laneway

You know summer is just around the corner by the number of music festivals that have just been announced. We may be in a downturn, or at least coming out of one, but I don’t think festival organisers are feeling the fiscal pinch. And you know why? Because nothing beats a live show. I have to say the team at Canvas, myself included, had a small conniption at the announcement of St. Jerome’s Laneway. Listen to this lineup: Echo & The Bunnymen, The XX, Wild Beasts, The Very Best, Florence And The Machines, and can you believe the Black Lips are touring Australia again? This is like the best ever early Christmas present!

Bubbles Of Spring

Bubbles Of Spring

It's no secret that we're fans of Scandanavian fashion, especially the new summer collection, bulles d'ete, from Stine Goya.

Veil

Veil

Veil, the new collection from New-York based designer Katie Gallagher was inspired in part by Butoh, a performance art and dance movement that derives power from what the individual who dances it brings. It is as much a mental as well as physical sense, much in the way that fashion is about style and the personality of the wearer. That transformative power of dress comes through very clearly in this new collection and we had a very quick exchange this morning with Katie about her inspiration for summer.

Modern Minimalism

Modern Minimalism

When I was reading the press release for Claudia Rosa Lukas' new summer collection I caught the phrase "prissy secretary". My, my, I thought, those two words alone conjure images of ultra conservative women in fitted, slimline silhouettes, with button-up blouses and hair set in french rolls, nose in the air. Considering this was the first I had heard of Claudia, I immediately started to think of how the collection would look.

Jennifer Loiselle

Jennifer Loiselle

Jennifer Loiselle’s an expat Aussie, living in London, looking after her little daughter and making some of the coolest headbands we’ve seen. I came across her designs on Etsy - the only site where you’ll find her stuff, that’s how exclusive it is. They’re hard not to miss, and love, with their oversized shapes, and clash of bold colours and texture.

Flying Forward

Flying Forward

I played a lot of sport in my youth, wore a lot of Nike, but since the early 2000s it’s been high heel heaven. This so-called sneaker freaker culture has remained somewhat elusive to me. But Feiyue have collaborated with graphic and textile designer Frederique Daubal to create a capsule collection of shoes that mixes high-end, original fashion with streetwear. It seems like a good compromise. I’m not sure how I haven’t heard of Feiyue before, considering the brand originated in China over 80 years ago and is currently stocked in some of the world’s biggest boutiques, but sometimes when you’re so far away from the rest of the world news takes a little longer to travel. Aesthetically, the shoes are cute as a button, and cheap! Let’s face it, if I’m going to wean myself onto the sneaker shoe market I don’t want to be paying a high price for something that may be transient.
