No. 14
This post turned out to be something entirely different than what I had originally planned. It was my intention to present something new from a young Australian jewellery designer when this fashion/design collaboration was presented to me instead. Serendipity, I think they call it.

Flying The Patriotic Flag
It's a major coup when a young Australian designer is asked to show on an international stage. Josh Goot has been showing at London for the past few seasons and has sort of made it his runway home-away-from-home. This is the first time we've put Josh on our blog and I have to say I'm feeling his summer vibe.

Hello Summer!
The change in sartorial scene from New York to London has been like a welcome slap in the face. I hate to show bias but of all the major fashion week cities, London is my favourite. The dynamics are different. It's edgier, younger and the designers are more willing to take risks.

Francis Leon
Remember last week when I had my whinge about missing the Konstantina sale? Well fashion karma has come my way in the form of Francis Leon, a young design duo I discovered while at shopping at The Tribune.

Tour De Force
I read a wonderful article in The Australian last week, written by the effervescent Clare Press, about the return of flamboyant headwear. Isabella Blow and Anna Piaggi have both been two very fashion forward ladies who took a surrealist headtrip but for the most part it's a fashion accessory that has largely been ignored. But hats and headbands are becoming de rigeur amongst the fashion set.

Jesus Help Me Find My Proper Place
Don’t worry, we’re not turning to Christ, it’s just the title to Lucas Price’s solo show at Black Rat Press. The title’s appropriated from a Velvet Underground track and has been reinterpreted by Price as a direct reference to his past (which includes homelessness, drug addiction and jail time). Speaking on street art is quite foreign to us but his politically-loaded satire and social commentary is thought provoking, even to the amateur voyeur. This exhibition is a series of installations, in collaboration with Sweet Toof who seems to be known as the ‘dentist to the streets’. On show between October and November.

Oh No Babe
Louise Gray's show was the one were looking forward to most during London Fashion Week. That's a fairly big call on our part, considering the kind of designers that are showing, and also because the week's not even over. Admittedly sometimes too much pressure can lead to the most dismal of expectations but Louise's new season, Oh No Babe, is the best thing to look forward to from British fashion for summer.

Rittenhouse x Husmann/Tschaeni
I have to say I am quite surprised by the new Rittenhouse summer capsule collection.

The Village
We love to blog about Karen Walker. I don't think there is another designer in my mind who delivers a collection, season-in, season-out, that is as cool and quirky and consistent, and so character-based, as Karen.
