House of Architects
You would expect the internet to be able to give you an answer to any question asked but when we wanted to find more on the House of Architects Google came up stumps. It kind of surprises us, given the immediacy of social communication, that nothing can be found about their background or future. So I say to you all just enjoy what has been created because it defies gravity, is an architectural feat and, editorially speaking, looks amazing.

The Lost Girls
Considering the strength of the Australian fashion industry it’s surprising that after eight seasons there is still no other footwear designer to challenge the sexpot sophistication of a Tristan Blair shoe. As the name suggests to those who were a fan of the 80s and the Coreys, Tristan’s summer 2010 collection is a reference to the spook film The Lost Boys and the “inherent sex appeal of witchery” . And while there are some styles that are fetishistic with their sharp cutouts and excessive strapping, playing on the idea of ‘good against evil’ I find the collection errs on the side of the Romans with a distinct reference of plaiting and woven sandals (but with an 80s twist).

Jasmine Noir
In Sydney circles the name Jasmin O’Loughlin-Glover is a little more well known than in other cities, mainly because of some killer skills with a set of decks, plus her work with Das Super Paper and Rococo Productions. We know a good thing when we see it and suspect it won’t be long until the letters of Jasmine pass from keyboard to keyboard across the state, across the country, across the globe. These runway and backstage shots are from Marnie Skillings summer 2010 show, a collaborative effort between the two designers. While her background is in jewellery (Jasmine was the COFA Annual 2008 winner of the A&E Metal prize for jewellery), and the pieces were a standout for the catwalk show, we’ve got to point out that she was also responsible for the cool laser-cut tees and collars.

5cm
It’s not often we feature menswear in our blog but 5cm is a label that has a strong sensibility when it comes to fashion. It’s casual, modern approach to directional design drives inspiration from forward thinking designers like Owens and Watanabe. Clean lines and rough fabrics dominate the style philosophy of the brand, where cotton basics are offered with foundation denims and drills.

Near Dark
Stephanie Downey, the designer behind Australian label Dress Up, generally creates collections directly from her countless memories of people and places. What we've seen in seasons past are pieces that create an emotional connection and carry you away into a world where you aspire to style and fashion.

Leslie David
This is going to be the kind of post that gives you pangs of absolute envy. For starters graphic designer Leslie David lives in Paris. Great clothes, great cheese, the Eiffel tower. She’s interned at Ich & Kar’s and Sylvia Tournerie, has a portfolio of work that includes some major, major clients, like Chloe, Reebok and super cool fashion label Surface To Air, and is signed to DARLING management, an agency representing some of the best illustrators and designers in the business.
