Axel Peemöller
Axel Peemöller is an art director and designer currently living in Hamburg. As is the Australian way, when we find something we love, we claim them as our own, considering his resume includes a stint with emerystudio and studies in Melbourne. We particularly love his experiment that tracks the process of constructing a typeface using metal wire connected to a mouse and a pen at the other end.

Forget Me Not
We came across Coco Pit in our research for the DESIGN issue. Her foray into the fashion industry was via a fine arts degree and a few illustrations as favours to friends in the business. As the story goes, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know and these favours began to receive press and now her work is recognised in both mainstream in independent press. One of the wonderful things about working in fashion is that the opportunities are endless and now Coco has channelled her creative side into a series of digital print silk scarves under the moniker Forget Me Not.

Season Of The Witch
We posted a blog on London based artist Danny Sangra way back in 2007. Quick recap: Central St. Martins graduate (graphic design), has collaborated with streetwear label Gravis, worked on side project A Minute Silence with Lyn Cockburn, all the while living a penniless but creative lifestyle. Now, after nearly an eighteen month hiatus Danny is back with a new exhibition, Season Of The Witch. Flashy colours, poppy motivs and detailed paintings are his trademark but his new work is slightly more monochromatic, still keeping with that original punk aesthetic of appropriation and manipulation.

Control C
We featured Sandra Backlund in our COLOUR issue and she is a designer that frequents our blogs with every season. Sometimes words can’t describe what this woman can do with a knit. We are constantly amazed by her innovative and modern approach to a medium that is otherwise resigned to the ‘more mature’ generation. Each piece in the collection is improvised; rather than being based on patterns Sandra designs as she knits. What we most enjoy is that despite her success since the label’s inception in 2004 (note: a collaboration with Louis Vuitton for Fall 2007/08), there is still that bespoke stamp to each piece.
